After a few years of owning, keeping in a cool, well ventilated area, the unit stopped cooling. It sounds as though it's still running, including the fan pushing air but temp never gets below 60deg despite being set to 45. I've tried the hard restart and it still didn't work. Trying to get any service out of GE has been an automated, looping hell. At this point, I'd rather buy a cheap fridge to store beverages in.

Our previous model unfortunately failed, but GE honored their product and replaced my unit as it could not maintain any proper temperature setting. Hopefully, this new version is a success.

I am very disappointed in this wine refrigerator. Within the first six months of use, the unit required a compressor replacement. After the repair, it worked for a period of time, but the issue appears to have returned.
Recently, I™™ve noticed the internal temperature gradually increasing over the past month, and the temperature control no longer seems to function properly. This suggests the cooling system may be failing again.
Based on my experience, this product has not been reliable over time, which is frustrating for an appliance intended to maintain consistent temperature conditions.

Just after the warrenty ran out, I realized it was not cooling. I had it repaired by my local dealer for a couple hundred dollars. Now it has failed again. Again, it does not cool. The fan simply runs continuously, which uses excessive energy. Additionally, I cannot change the temperature. It acknowldeges that I pushed the button but will not change it. My dealer stated that the vinyl board is not available. Another repair will be a couple hundred more, if the parts ever become available.
I replaced every appliance in my home with cafà or GE Profile if Cafe was not an option. I have over a dozen in total. I had a handle on my Advantium start making a jingling sound due to a nut the came off inside, which by design should not. That was over$100 just for the past. The Opal nugget ice maker failed upon the second usage. I am afraid to open and use the warrenty replacement. I now feel I need to look to another brand for my beverage cooling. No unit should fail twice.

This is the second one in two years- works for 6 to8 months and stops cooling. Seems to be a very common problem with this GE wine Center and Beverage Center GVS04BQNDSS Serial:DA015017 based -on all the comments. Still under warranty so fingers crossed but not happy with the quality of this product. One faulty product maybe but two with the exact same problem? We have been loyal GE users for 40+ years but this is junk. Looks good but doesn™™t work

This beverage center replaces an identical one purchased in December 2024. The first wine cooler stopped cooling after 11 months. Thankfully, the store where it was purchased has a replacement policy if something is defective. It was still under the warranty period as well. Hopefully this one will work for much longer. I have purchased numerous GE appliances throughout the years, and never had this type of issue before. Hopefully, it was just a lemon cooler.

We bought this fridge for our kitchen remodel and loved the sleek design. Only 3 month into use, we noticed the inside temp wouldn™™t go below 56 degrees, and now days later is at 61. We checked door seal and other common issues. After reading other reviews, I saw a GE response that said ™ Note: If the wine chiller is closed in by cabinets, the heat will not be able to escape and the will affect cooling performance. It cannot be built-in (enclosed on top, sides, back). Required clearances for this model are 1.5" on both sides and 2" on the top and back.™ why on earth is this the case, but the photos in the listing of the product shows it enclosed by cabinets without those gaps?! Very frustrated and disappointed in GE. Total waste of money.

We purchased this unit to replace an older GE Profile wine cooler that served flawlessly for 13 years in an under-cabinet installation The dimension of this unit fit the space in our cabinet better, especially the claimed (and verified with Support) 0" clearance required all around. The capacity is more than adequate but out of the box, several issues are apparent. First and foremost is the noise level. This unit, set at 52 degrees with an ambient temp of 66 makes more noise when running (which it seems to run a lot given the conditions) is quite high. Higher than the full size GE Cafe refrigerator-freezer sitting across the room from it. The temperature indicator and controls are too far back, cannot see the temperature of the unit or adjust without crouching way down. Lighting inside the unit is poor at best, and it appears to be an incandescent bulb that will need replacement possibly. So it appears the 13 year old unit was more than a bit better designed albeit it slightly bigger and requiring clearances. I hope this unit lasts as long but I am a bit skeptical at the outset.

I like the look and size of the beverage fridge. However, it has now failed after only 18 months - just outside the 1 year warranty. Even worse, after receiving a confirmation number from Bodewell (GE service team) they did not show up and basically said that since they did not call me, the service visit was cancelled. What is the purpose of a confirmation number with an appointment then? Overall, very disappointed and would advise others to carefully consider other brands

Too loud and the compressor runs constantly - want to return or trade up for a better model - how ever at $900 it should function as advertised. the sides get hot to the touch which gave me pause when installing under the counter. I've owned GE products in the past but am unlikely to purchase another.

I've had two of these, the first was replaced after the compressor went out, the second one they would not honor the warranty even though they said they would on the phone but then got around it by saying they would "send me a new one" but I interpreted it (as anyone would) free of charge, but GE tried to get around that and have me buy a new one for half retail. After 2 compressors going out on a 900 dollar wine fridge, they should know this is a poor made unit and need to replace for free.

This is the 2nd one we have had. 1st one failed and was under warranty. Now the 2nd one that they replaced it with has died with the exact same issues. It will not come down to temperature. Last technician said it™™s a closed system and they could not fix it, just replace. There should be a recall on this product. I do not want an extended warranty.

TWO GE Beverage and Wine Center appliances have failed in less than three years. The first had a compressor failure at the 6 -month mark. It was in warranty, so GE did replace it. The second appliance recently failed after 17 months. A polite and clear GE customer service supervisor advised that it is out of warranty, and I can pay to have a technician come take a look at it and get a discount on any needed parts. It seems that GE is more focused on the Extended Warranty business than they are at building quality wine chillers. From 4/9/2023 to 4/17/2025, I received 69 emails pushing an extended warranty. From my experience, the product is prone to failure. Putting money into repairs seems just as wasteful as sending this wine chiller to the recycler. Very disappointing.

Just purchased this today and after reading the reviews I hope that this unit will prove to be a great fit for our family this summer. It has begun to cool down quickly and Is quiet. I have three teenagers and they entertain a lot when they are home. Size
and style are nice and compact. We will be using it for mostly cans of flavored waters and healthy sodas. Shelving is attractive. Love the fact that
it has the capacity to hold 125 cans. The

Love the amount of cans and wine bottles I can get into the refrigerator. This was a replacement for a 22 year old under counter refrig that I had and it was difficult to find another the same size that would fit. Hope it last for awhile!

It's a very nice product. I am particularly impressed with the look and function of the wooden shelving. I have both Mexican Coke and Sprite bottles displayed standing up on the bottom row with wine bottles fashioned correctly on the upper rows. It makes a fine addition to my gaming room at home, which also has a vinyl record rack and old-fashioned Coke refrigerator (the refrigeration unit no longer works in that box). They all look great together.

It looks fine and even holds the temperature down. But out of the box, the fan is very loud.
They would not take it back, sent us GE technician. The technician suggested that the noise is expected due to the design of this fridge, the fan is exposed. But still replaced the fan with the new one that didn't help at all. So we are stuck with it now, cannot return. Very disappointing. Huge fridge has zero noise and this one hamming to the entire room. Don't recommend it.

I have been dealing with Customer Relations now for nearly a month to resolve my issue with this unit. Compressor went out after 6mo of service. GE sent out some independent service guy who just looked at the unit and stated he's not qualified to fix that unit and he would let someone know.We are now approaching 1month since that visit and I have made multiple calls to GE and keep getting the response that it has been "esculated" in their service dept. I've had that response now for 4-5 times. This is the poorest repensentation of customer service that I have experienced from a major company in a long time. I am a residential builder and have used GE for almost 30yrs. Very dissappointed in degree of service and will reconsider putting my customers through this in the future on products that are still well under warranty guidelines.

We™™ve had this Beverage and Wine Center for just over a year and it has quit cooling. There is a sound indicating something, like a fan, is running but the indicator light is off meaning the compressor is not operating. Very disappointed that it operated for such a short period of time.

We had this Beverage Fridge for 4 years it died with normal use in our bar area. We noticed it was no longer cooling and had a local technician to come look diagnose the issue, the compressor no was working. To replace the part it would cost just under a brand new one. Very disappointed and would of expected better from GE products. The technician said he is seeing this common defect.

Horrible. Loud condenser hum from day one. Tech said we have it on the correct settings and we did not over fill it and then added the noise is normal for this unit. Two months later there's a huge puddle on our new hardwood floors(now ruined) with more water leaking and no longer cooling our expensive white wine. We have owned this for 3 months and it's already dead.

Do not buy - it fails to cool - it just stops working. In fact, it was already replaced once and the second one lastet just long enough to be out of warranty. Technician said it can't be repaired. And if you think about it, it sits in the basement and got hardly used. Absolutely do not plan or design your cabinets to these dimensions.

We don't drink a lot of wine, so we were more looking for a place to store beverages outside of our primary refrigerator, which is always pretty full. Overall, this fits the bill and does a good job. It doesn't cool below about 42 degrees, but that's fine for most of the beverages we are storing in it (beers, sodas, etc., and an occasional bottle of champagne). I do appreciate that it is very quiet. My only major gripe is that replacing the light bulb (it uses an E12 candelabra style bulb) is a real hassle, requiring you to remove the top shelves and all the contents, then crawl in there on your back to undo a small screw -- all to remove a plastic cover that houses the bulb. This could have been designed in a way that made swapping out the bulb much simpler. (My recommendation: when it burns out, replace with an LED bulb which will last much longer).

DO NOT BUY! As with countless other reviewers this wine fridge stooped cooling a month after the warranty period expired. Very disappointing. It simply will not cool below around 61 degrees now which is useless for a lot wines and leaves other beverages lukewarm.

This unit was selected by our builder, made it 1.5 years and now failed.
Had a tech review it and seems it had a leak/failed compressor. Seems the new refrigerant forced OEM's to switch from piston technology. Doesn't help that the unit has cheap internals.

I like the wood shelves that are removable and temperature display. Also it runs quiet even outside of kitchen cabinet. The only improvement would be if the fridge light turned on when door is opened then turn off when door is shut.

Ordered this beverage center to add to our kitchen remodel on 5/8/2024 it was delivered the first week of June. We installed it a couple weeks later and it has stopped working. The temp was 78 degrees. I pulled out a bottle of wine during a dinner party and realized that it was hot. Very disappointed in the product. We paid 900.00 for this. Not sure what to do at this point but I will never purchase a GE product again.
